About the Role

Yahoo is seeking a Data Engineer – Data Science Intern to assist in data analysis, model development, and data migration projects. If you are curious, analytical, and passionate about data, this role will provide hands-on experience in big data technologies, machine learning, and cloud computing. This internship is designed for students or recent graduates eager to apply their knowledge in a real-world, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform data exploration and analysis on large advertising datasets.
  • Identify patterns, trends, and anomalies to drive business insights.
  • Develop statistical and machine learning models for audience and revenue predictions.
  • Assist with data migration from on-premise Linux/HDFS environments to AWS/GCP.
  • Conduct ad-hoc data mining to analyze user engagement, retention, and behavior.
  • Support the creation of automated reports and dashboards to track key metrics.

Salary Range: $24 – $52 per hour

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Pursuing or recently completed a BS/MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Coursework or experience in Statistical Analysis and Machine Learning.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL, Python, R, Java, C++, Perl, Unix/Linux systems.
  • Knowledge of big data technologies such as AWS, BigQuery, Hive, Pig, Spark, Hadoop, and MapReduce.
  • Proficiency in Google Sheets and Excel for data processing and reporting.
  • Ability to analyze large, complex datasets and identify key insights.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to tackling challenges.
